Evaluating URL's
How do you evaluate the resources you find on the Internet?
We have a tutorial that teaches how to evaluate URL and web pages found through general searches. Try the tutorial at: http://library.nsuok.edu/tutorials/orie1001/orie1001_13evalurls.html
1. Links are returned by some search engines in order of link popularity. This may not make the resource reliable, but it shows that it has been evaluated by other web authors.
2. Another way to look at reliability is to see who the author of the page is. Sites that end in .gov and .edu come from government and universities that make them more reliable.
3. Other web pages, especially ones that appear to be published by individuals, should have all information verified from another source.
