Library updates webpage
Have you noticed the new webpage for the NSU Libraries?
You might be interested in how we developed the new page.
It all started with a group of students in a marketing class. They sent the Library an extensive report on improving the library and one part was a suggestion for a new webpage.
Here is their suggestion:
We noticed that they wanted more color pictures, links to social media and clear tabs to get to our resources. We also noticed that they didn't want to get rid of all the words on our page, but they really didn't think they were necessary either, because they gave them very small type.
We went to work over a year's time and studied every link on the page. We evaluated whether it was essential or redundant. After we pared down our links, we put them in groups. As we talked about these links, we tried to take off our Librarian hats and see things from the student perspective. To do this, we used personas.

We also looked at how many uses different pages get so that we would not forget any really important links.
