Big Read activities coming to NSU Libraries
Watch for Big Read activities starting in March:
TAHLEQUAH CAMPUS
- Big Read Kickoff Event featuring author Jim Butcher - please join us as NSU hosts this exciting Big Read kickoff event featuring famed author and speaker Jim Butcher as he explores the themes of Ursula Le Guin's classic novel A Wizard of Earthsea. Jim Butcher is a New York Times best selling author best known for his contemporary fantasy book series The Dresden Files. He also wrote the traditional fantasy series Codex Alera. The Big Read program will be distributing free A Wizard of Earthsea readers' guides and other materials to promote literary reading. Don't miss out on this wonderful event and a chance to meet Jim Butcher! This program is free and open to the community.

- "Legends of Earthsea" Film Screening - Northeastern State University is excited to host a film screening of "Legends of Earthsea," a 2004 SciFi miniseries based on Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea trilogy. The film will be screened at both the Broken Arrow campus auditorium, and the Tahlequah campus Webb auditorium (ITV'd) from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25th. This event has free admission and is open to all. The film run time is 90 minutes, and is rated PG, with some mild adult content. Popcorn will be served.

- Panel Discussion - All About Le Guin -- join us at the NSU Broken Arrow Campus (Annex) for this panel discussion featuring English Department faculty members Dr. Brian Cowlishaw, Dr. Christopher T. Malone, and Dr. Christina Cedillo as they discuss the works of author Ursula Le Guin. Hear about how this genre has explored themes of dystopia and converseely how those themes have shaped the genre. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.
