New Technology for Assistive Technology Room

The Library Disability Services Committee would like to announce a new arrival for the Assistive Technology Room. We have just received and installed a new Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) in the room. This will replace a CCTV that has been on loan to us for around a year. This machine provides magnification for viewing print material. In addition, you can change the display to show a negative image (white on black) or several color choices. If you would like to see how it works, let us know and we will be glad to show off our new equipment!

Watch for the Big Read

NSU Libraries received a grant to be involved with the Big Read. Watch for more information in the fall. The book will be Fahrenheit 451.

Fahrenheit 451, the seminal classic work by Illinois native Ray Bradbury, has been chosen to celebrate our first The BIG READ effort. The themes of book burning, censorship and the threat to critical thought and inquiry are issues which resonate more than 50 years after its original publication.

Big Read grants total $3.7 million
The Institute of Museum and Library Service, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, awarded Big Read grants to 269 arts, culture, and science organizations, libraries, and municipalities on June 23. The communities and institutions will use the grants, totaling $3.7 million, to host Big Read celebrations that bring communities together to read, discuss, and celebrate one of 30 selections from U.S. and world literature....
