Black History Month

Black History Month is being celebrated in the Lobby of John Vaughan Library throughout the month of February. Displays include a historical time line, portrayals of people that have made contributions to African American history, a collection of documents, and a table of books available for check out.

Dr. Melissa Strong's African American Writing class worked with the Public Relations Committee for the library to bring the exhibits for Black History Month to life. Graduate students Casey Cobb, Heather V. Emery, Jenni Love, and Katheryn Sheridan are responsible for contributing and displaying the over sized posters in the lobby. Students and Patrons are invited "to take a moment to view the posters and learn about our common American history."

Happy Valentine's Day

The library is celebrating Valentine's throughout the month from a very non-traditional point of view that will hopefully inspire a bit of challenging insight as well as fun. Our "Venus vs. Mars" display begins with a traditional look back at how women and men have often been portrayed and will progress towards the end of the month to offer a more modern spin on the reality of the roles the sexes play in today's society.

Blind Book Date for Valentines

The John Vaughan Library welcomes students, faculty and staff to participate in the First Annual Blind Book Date. Fill out a questionnaire at the library check out desk anytime before February 11. On Valentine's Day, you will be matched with the perfect book.

Due to email requests for an online questionnaire, one has been created. Those who fill out an online questionnaire will also be matched with a book on Valentine's Day. The survey can be found here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VT5MWP7
